This Week’s Lawn & Landscape Tips for Central Indiana

This week’s forecast across Central Indiana is looking rainy, cool, and a little unpredictable. With colder-than-normal temperatures sticking around, there is still a slight risk of frost during the early morning hours. While these conditions are fairly typical for early May in Indiana, changing weather patterns can still impact your lawn, landscape, and spring plantings.

Here are a few lawn and landscape tips to keep your property looking its best this week:

  • Thanks to recent rainfall and continued cool temperatures, most irrigation systems can remain off for now. Your lawn and landscape are receiving plenty of natural moisture.

  • Be mindful of tender plants, herbs, and vegetables during colder nights. Bringing sensitive plants indoors or covering them can help prevent frost damage. Established perennials, shrubs, and mature landscape plants should continue to do well.

  • After heavy rain, take a walk around your property and check for standing water or pooling. Drainage issues can lead to lawn damage, plant stress, and erosion over time. If you notice soggy areas, your property may benefit from grading improvements or a custom drainage solution.
